The successful candidate will be supporting the client facing teams within contractual and commercial negotiations, as well as supporting practitioners on engagement risk management.

The role will also involve supporting the business on jurisdictional legislation across the Middle East (including Free Zones). This is a unique opportunity to engage in cross-border collaboration with Deloitte professionals across the Deloitte network, broadening your knowledge and building your competencies and skills.

Contract Review & Negotiation

  • Draft and review all types of contracts and transactional documents including but not limited to Services Agreements, Master Services Agreements and Framework Agreements, Statements of Work (SOW), Purchase Orders (PO), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Undertaking Letters, Change Orders, Contract addenda and other contractual arrangements to assess legal, reputational, or other risks. ​
  • Conduct and lead contract negotiations with clients, subcontractors and third parties as applicable and be able to come up with alternative solutions to contracting issues. ​
  • Lead internal discussions and escalations with engagement teams, partners of the business and other internal stakeholders (such as business risk leaders, directors of independence, security and privacy teams, Office of General Counsel, etc.). ​
  • Provide legal and legal risk management advice on contracts. ​
  • Communicate expectations and standards with key stakeholders.

Understanding the Business:

  • Deep understanding of the different service and product offerings delivered together with their inherent risks.
  • Understand key objectives for clients and Deloitte, align people to objectives and set priorities and direction.
  • Identifying legal and contractual risks and supporting the engagement teams with appropriate mitigations
  • Formulate legal opinions and assist in risk appetite documents where needed and communicate to the business. ​
  • Manage and lead a team of lawyers and be responsible for their day-to-day workload, escalations, leave management and overall performance including setting SMART objectives and developments.  
  • Deliver exceptional client service; maximize results and drive high performance from people while fostering collaboration across businesses and borders.
  • Influence clients, teams, and individuals positively, leading by example and establishing confident relationships with increasingly senior people.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate degree from a reputable University in Law or related disciplines
  • Admitted Attorney / Lawyer / Solicitor / Barrister.
  • Relevant 8-10+ years post-qualification experience. 
  • Fast-paced and focused on finding solutions within legal bounds. (Tax specific)
  • Excellent command of the English language, both verbal and written (Knowledge of Arabic is preferable)
  • Ability to handle internal and sensitive information with strictest confidentiality. 
  • Ability to manage a demanding workload effectively and to be responsive
  • Strong time management skills with ability to priorities workload and work under pressure with a flexible approach, while meeting tight deadlines. 
  • Ability to quickly assess the risk areas and recommend ways of mitigating or managing them
  • Good level of technical proficiency and computer literacy particularly with spreadsheets (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
