Core experience requirements
- Financial services strategy, preferably with a focus on banking, payments, digital banking, wallets or FinTech
- GCC banking market exposure, including understanding of regional banks, regulators, customer segments, product dynamics and competitive landscape
- Development of market entry, growth, product, segment or digital financial services strategies
- Assessment of banking and payments revenue pools, including the ability to size opportunities by customer segment, product and channel
- Preparation of business cases and financial projections for banks, digital banks, wallets, FinTechs or financial services platforms
- Understanding of key banking products and their economics, including deposits, lending, payments, cards, remittances, SME banking, wealth or Islamic banking products
- Ability to translate strategic opportunities into clear investment cases, including revenue potential, cost implications, key assumptions, risks and implementation priorities
- Awareness of technology and platform cost implications in digital financial services, without needing to be a technology implementation specialist
- Ability to develop practical strategy to execution roadmaps, including sequencing of initiatives, dependencies, investment requirements and key decision points
- Experience supporting senior client discussions, workshops and executive-level presentations
Skills and capabilities
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to structure ambiguous strategic questions
- Commercial judgement, with the ability to connect market opportunity, customer needs, product economics and investment requirements
- Strong quantitative skills, including market sizing, revenue modelling, business case development and scenario analysis
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create senior-level storylines, presentations and client ready outputs
- Ability to work with cross functional teams across strategy, operations, technology, regulatory, risk and product teams
- Comfort working in fast paced proposal and delivery environments across multiple GCC markets
- Ability to independently own workstreams, manage team members and engage senior stakeholders
Preferred background
- Strategy consulting experience with a focus on financial services in GCC
- In-house strategy, digital, product or corporate development roles within banks, FinTechs, payment companies or digital financial services platforms
- Prior work on digital bank, wallet, payment, FinTech, market entry, revenue pool, product strategy or business case projects
- Exposure to GCC markets, especially UAE, KSA, Qatar or broader Middle East financial services
- Understanding of Islamic banking, remittances, SME banking, wealth, cards, payments or digital lending propositions
